Providing a tranquil resting place in Christchurch, the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens are situated in approximately ten hectares (20 acres) of beautifully landscaped grounds and surround the main administration office and chapel in Linwood Avenue.
The gardens have been set apart for the placing of individual Memorial plaques which contain the ashes of the deceased. These Memorials are placed among several types of garden flowers, shrubs and rose bushes where they are open to the air, sunlight, bird song and scent of flowers. Memorial walls are also situated in lawns overlooking the gardens.
Designed by professional landscapers to follow overseas trends in Memorial garden design, our gardens are constantly being developed. They provide areas such as rose gardens, rockeries, shrubberies, children's gardens, services section, Memorial wall niches and family monuments where every Memorial is maintained in perpetuity.

The Woodlawn Memorial Gardens and Canterbury Crematorium understand the need to remember your loved ones with a visible Memorial. They provide a dignified and peaceful area to visit, to reflect and to provide a mark of respect and love.

A Memorial provides a focus for grief and remembrance as well as a Historical Link to the past. Designing a Memorial can help complete the natural process of mourning for many families. A final tribute for their loved one can be arranged in the form a granite Memorial plaque inscribed to their requirements and placed in any of our garden settings. Families may also choose a script written entry in our Memorial Book, on view in the Memorial Room. A page is reserved for each day of the year and will remain open at the appropriate page so that Memorial entries may be viewed on the anniversary of the date of death. Other services are available such as the final scattering of ashes over our Memorial Lawns.
Woodlawn Memorial Gardens are a place of peace, of hope not sorrow. They are open to the public every day.
